Pat Boone’s beloved wife Shirley died on January 11, 2019, RadarOnline.com exclusively learned.
Shirley was surrounded by family, including husband Pat and all four daughters who sang to her right before she died.
My sweet wife of 65 years is in the arms of the Lord now,” Pat said.
A source close to the American music icon told Radar: “Shirley had been ill for some time now. She was suffering from congestive heart failure and was in hospice care.”
“Pat and Shirley’s daughters Cherry and Laury flew in from Washington and Colorado,” the insider said.
“Lindy and Debby were close by in Los Angeles and Orange County.”
The Boone family insider explained Shirley’s sad last days.
“Shirley had congestive heart failure and is just tired and ready to go.”
The family was devastated by Shirley’s death.
“The girls were naturally worried about Pat, as they’ve been married for 65 years and together for 68. This is just so very sad to say the least.”
In December 2018 Pat, 84, called on Christians everywhere to pray for his wife on the Christian Broadcast Network.
Shirley was the daughter of country music legend Red Foley. She and Pat had been together for 68 years and married for 65.
Pat told The National ENQUIRER about his life-long romance with his wife.
“Shirley and I were the proverbial high school sweethearts,” he said in an exclusive interview in 2017.
“We met when we were 13, we got serious when we were 16 and started going steady. We both went to a Christian high school in Nashville. She was homecoming queen. I was president of the student body and captain of the baseball team. We married at 19.
“And, of course, she’s my sweetheart. We’ve had four daughters, 16 grand-kids and, now, 9 great-grand kids!”
